Peter Pan [1953]

with the amazing animation and the trademark singalongs you know this is a disney film what can you say when the people at disney pump out great film after great film? well for me this film doesnt quite deserve the prestigus 5 star mark purley because i thought that the story seemed very very rushed but apart from that the characters are great physically and vocually (espseacially mr smee)and the constantly present "disney magic" is there so i am not complaining (that much) definatly worth a look young or old

The Tales Of Para Handy - Master Mariner

The Tales Of Para Handy - Master Mariner

Such an extraordinary cast, great level of performance and rough but tasty load of scottish humour. I have seen so many positive reviews of this series - it seems insane this great piece of ententainment isn't available on DVD. I'd buy it instantly.

Far better than this meagre release would indicate. Solid performances from everyone, a clever story with a few twists and it's nice to see an unashamedly feel good movie that manages to end without ladling on the syrup factor.

It has been shown on UK TV by Channel 4 in widescreen, so why the R1 1.33 only vanilla release?

We demand a decent DVD release. I'd replace mine like a shot for a good widescreen transfer with a few insights from cast and crew into the making. Some of the scenes out in the countryside on their car journey just scream out for the open vista of widescreen.

And careful not be a spoiler, but I'd love to know whether the need to have main cast members releasing feathers from their pockets at a crucial moment was down to a last minute idea on set, or whether they thought they'd save on having to have hide a mechanical release mechanism and that we wouldn't notice them doing it? Cos' we did!

Granpa [1989]

Granpa [1989]

This is a gorgeous piece of animation.I have three sons and all of them have watched this over and over again.
The relationship between a child and a grandparent is quite often very special and this little film beautifully illustrates that. They say the older that you get the more childlike you become and here we have Emily and her grandfather engaging in imaginary situations invloving tremendous fantasy and adventure.
AS other reviewers have said-the 'death' of the grandfather at the end is handled sensitively and movingly.I defy you not to cry-I know it sounds strange tslking about crying at a cartoon but believe me it might happen !!.
I can't recommend this film highly enough-Buy it,you won't be disappointed.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones [2002]

after the awful phantom menace this is if anything worse, the acting is awful as is the scripting and the film is also very boring.one of the worst star wars films

The Never Ending Story & The Never Ending Story 2 [1985]

The Never Ending Story & The Never Ending Story 2 [1985]

I loved this when I was a kid.
Now I'm old (haha) and have kids of my own.

We sat down together this weekend to watch this film.... I knew it would be good and that the kids would love it, but I had forgotten just how good it really is.

Every scene in the film is intense - exciting, sad, funny, scarey...
There is no let up from begining to end.

One minute you want to cry because all seems lost and the scene is overwhelmingly sad.
The next, your flying on the back of a dragon-dog all excited and enchanted.

Having watched hundreds of films in my lifetime so far - I have to say that this is the best film I have ever seen.

An absolute triumph.

Alice In Wonderland (1951) (Disney)

Alice In Wonderland (1951) (Disney)

First time i saw this movie i was about 6 or 7 years old and it became one of my favorite cartoons.
Then i watched it last night (Im 24 now) and it was more intresting than the first time.
I think Alice in Wonderland is a pure acid trip story, check the colors, voices, the worm with the bong and that mushroom (Magic mushroom maybe) she ate that made her big and small ??????? and also that weird cat.
This movie is made in a way that makes any one who watches it love it.

Les Miserables [1995]

Les Miserables [1995]

Having seen the show live in the west end I was pleased as punch to see that this had been released. This truly is the dream cast. Ruthie Henshall, Michael Ball, Philip Quast are all simply sensational. From the opening through to the barricades to the bitter sweet ending it's perfect. Listen out for Philip Quast as he sings 'Stars' just stunning. colm Wilkinson is wonderful as Jean Valjean. And ruthie henshall is stunning as Fantine. the perfect show with the perfect cast. Leah Salonga is worthy of a mention for her stunning portrayal of Eppoinine. Stunning, simply stunning!
